Latest reviews of Mc Loud - Remote Controlled and Streaming Music and Movie Player with Dropbox support app for iPhone and iPad
This app plays music and videos from DropBox
wanted this app and was having some trouble with it, support is the greatest and fixed the problem for us iTouch people, app works great and support rocks!
Audio drop outs, feature deficiencies
Just bought this, trying it out now.
Positives:
* The connection to dropbox was really seamless, worked very nicely
* scanned my Dropbox for music and video pretty quickly
* has a playback bar that lets you drag back and forth to random access the song
Negatives:
* I upload folders full of untagged songs (Im a musician, working on mixes) - but there is no way to search for songs by the folder they are in - only albums or artists ... not very useful when the songs I have are organized by the actual folders they are in, and you cant see the actual filenames, just the metatag names in the Album list
* no way to make playlists
* No in-app airplay pop-up box - have to double tap home key, swipe left twice to get to airplay control
* Video playback is stuttery, lots of buffering - probably a dropbox issue - I have a 35 Mbps downstream internet connection, but could be that Dropbox isnt allowing the connection to stream quickly
* I could have give this a higher rating, but it fails at its primary mission, to playback audio cleanly - I had audio drop outs in the middle of songs, little pops and warbles, and one song that just went silent a few seconds into it, although it kept counting as if it was playing. Rewinding and playing again and it works again.
Poor indexing performance
Mc Louds painfully slow indexing function would be problem enough if it was able to capture all of the music on Dropbox. As it stands, the app cant seem to count past 2000 songs. So a large collection requires killing and restarting the app repeatedly. and waiting and waiting more... Not good.
Works perfectly
It indexed very fast my all of my music and it works even if Im using other apps
Recomended as the only solution (at the moment)
At the moment this app is the only solution to remote controling iPads music library from an iPhone.
- minus 1 star for having to "index" all songs prior the use if app that took sometime to finish them.
- minus 1 star for not having a built-in equalizer
